Home from Germany... damn, tiring trip. We were very, very grateful the hire car had GPS.

Let's see! First coupla days were Berlin; interesting place! Mostly took in city sights. We stopped at a little town named Lemgo next; parents used to work there so they wanted to see what it was like now. Pretty. There was a nice spa near there so woo. :)
Next was Bonn, further west; nice city, shame we didn't have longer to look around the city centre but we were doing stuff. They had an anime exhibition in one of the galleries there, which was cool, though their cosplay exhibit had me going 'meh, seen better'. XD Visited a couple of theme parks from there. Movie Land Germany was a bit of a drive out, seemed a little bit scruffy and the stage acts were laughable but it was still a nice day out. Phantasia Land on the other hand was mostly Disney standard stuff. Good times. And didn't have to queue for the rides!
We kept on the theme park ... theme and headed over to the French border, Europa Park. Largest theme park in Germany, has a 'European countries' theme. Except for their storybook kingdom bit. (Candyland wanted to join the EU, but their currency, based on gumdrops and happy smiles, was just too strong for the euro.) Not a queue to be seen here, either, yay; I went on a load of rides twice. Kick ass. Though the EuroMir, one of their big coasters, left me reeling a bit.
Last stop was Munich; we did a bit of looking around the city, going up as far as the English Garden which is a huge freaking park, and on to Oktoberfest. AKA 'how much beer can you get in one tent', times the size of a city block, plus rides and souvenirs and a million people in traditional German gear. As I'm not a drinker I didn't enjoy it as much as my folks but the atmosphere was good. It's like a con for boozehounds. Between getting kicked out of the hotel and catching the plane, we visited Neuschwanstein castle; very pretty, and in a part of the country that made me go 'did we just drive into Land of Departure'?

All in all, good times, but hardly what you'd call a relaxing holiday... *flop*.
