Sep. 7th, 2011 06:14 pmI am posting my butt off about this lately. Seven months until one con, eleven to the other (to which registration isn't even open) and I'm already getting the ideas together. Ah, well, it's a thing to do!
Playing with a mix of homebrew concepts and canon stuff at the moment.
* Mirror Kairi
Because Kairis have been done and I wanted to put my own spin on things. Asked on the forums because I wasn't sure how folks'd respond to AUs. The response was about 3/4 in favour of 'hey, go for it' though one person was all 'bleh, fan versions annoy me'. Probably the worst thing here'll be working out how to layer things up and how to do gradients. A little more complex than Aerith, but should be doable with research.
* Final Fantasy Steampunk
This is part of a group effort. While the group's primarily FFVIII, that game's running out of slots (there's Seifer, Irvine and Ultimecia left, and I can guess why no-one picked the latter), so I'm pondering trying someone else. Hm, a steampunk FFXIII'er might be interesting...
* Aurica or Cloche, Ar Tonelico
Now this is out of left field for me! I've never actually played the games, but from what I've seen (a lot of Let's Plays) I love their aesthetic, world-building, and most of all the music. (Not so crazed on the innuendo that'd make Nanny Ogg cackle, though. Which makes me feel kind of weird about liking the rest.) The costumes caught my eye, even if a lot of them are kinda ... well, revealing *starts Pants For Magical Music Computer Girls fund*. These two are a little improbably short of skirt, but that can be tweaked. May be generally out of my league to make, though.

I'm being vague here as I'm not sure what route I'd like to take. One thing with me is I'm little enough fond of normal makeup, the idea of face paint really puts me off: trolls are out. Which is annoying because otherwise I'd be all up in trying to do an Ancestor. Dolorosa or Mindfang, maybe. As it is, I'm pondering a humanized Terezi. Or anything else Hussie throws out between then and now (Young Nana?DogGod-Tier Jade?) - nice thing about HS is so many simple designs!
I'd also love to try my hand at crossplay. However, I'm not sure how much help I'd get of a parental variety there; while mum didn't really blink at the crossplayers at Aya, I think she'd go into 'oh, you don't want to try that' mode if I mentioned it to her, and she is a very hard person to convince otherwise when she thinks she's doing the right thing for me. Plus I have a rather big pair of problems where pulling off a guy's concerned.
