Running out of Florida...
May. 3rd, 2010 12:21 amWhoo. Been travelling for the best part of three days, but finally, it's time to put feet up. I've made it to Pensacola, and am now chilling out in a hotel with a view out over the water. Nice.
Tallahassee yesterday; not that exciting, the bits I saw, seemed all very formal and official. But the mall did provide a shop selling KH tees among other gamer merchandise. So that'll get worn for the meetup, I think. (Although speaking of the meetup... slightly bad news, none of the cellphones we brought work in the US so I won't be able to talk apart from online. Will try and keep in touch tho'.)
Didn't fancy looking for a hotel in the city (graduation day, everything was booked), so stayed in a li'l old motel with no wifi in one of those towns that seem to exist to be driven through. (The waitress in the restaurant there was all 'but why are you coming through *here?*)
Today was my first taste of driving around here. I think I did more steering to stop the car blowing off the road than to actually go round corners, which is not how it works back home - there is a road near where I live which is a plain straight mile of road and that is big. :p Stopped off in a little local cafe for lunch, nearly drove into an air force base, did stop off at the airforce museum down here but it was closed so we just took photos of planes.
And now here, near the beach, hoping the oil doesn't catch us up. The stormy weather seems to have done so. Clouds, clouds... at least we're not in Tennessee. D:
