May. 1st, 2010 03:21 amToday's been some day.
Flight over was okay, bar a late start and a bit of turbulence. Ah, well. Arrival at airport went pretty smoothly, too... car hire would have gone smoothly if we didn't have to go through three cars to find one that worked. :(
Currently in a motel a bit north of Gainsville. Drive wasn't bad, except for the fact we went through one hell of a rainstorm on the way up. Drove through, kept going...
It was, however, the first time I've ever heard a EBS warning for real. (No such thing in the UK.) Tornado/storm in the next county over.
Eep.
That seems to have faded, yay, but we're currently sitting in the middle of a severe thunderstorm warning watching RAIN... it looks like it's the storm we drove through finally catching us up. We walked to the gas station at the end of the block to buy drinks... during the time we were in there it went from 'ugh, rainy' to 'OH CRAP'. There are apparently massive hailstones and crazy winds around, too.
I love this state. XD
