Dec. 2nd, 2008 04:06 pmToday has had good news and bad news.
Good news, I checked my schedule and one of the reports I've got to do is apparently not for when I thought. I just have a presentation to do and that's worth tiny marks (5% of that module), so not so stressed. Still going to give it a good old shot, because I need all the marks I can get to stand a chance of this fabled first, but it's not as bad as I thought. Now I'm more worried about the *other* projects I've got...
The bad news, though?
I'm short a computer again for doing any work on at all (back on the Vista compy to write this)... This time, I think it's for good. Own stupid fault, too. Cable got wrenched, thing dropped on the ground. It's just locking up. I've got a sickening feeling something's gotten whacked in the hard drive, or somewhere in its guts. Good job I backed everything up last time it all went 'crunch' - I think everything's safe bar a few bits and pieces. Most importantly, our photos are. The rest of my stuff - I can recreate, I can download. But the photo gallery, dear god I don't want to lose that.
Hm. If I can't get it fixed...
I'm considering getting a little netbook - not good for graphics, but would be lovely for toting into uni and the likes, and would be awesome for holidays - jumping on wireless to get emails and work out where to go. Just picked one up for my cousin (she had one, but couldn't get on with the Linux so returned it and gave me the cash to grab a Windows version) and it's so cute! Y'know. By computer standards. Little Eee jobby. Hope she likes it.
I don't know what I'm going to do about a main!computer, though. Hm. Maybe I'll get a desktop iMac for serious use instead, or an actual desktop of some other variety, cheaper than replacing it with an 'equivalent' lappy. Will have to see what I can afford. Got plenty saved from work (will get megabucks over Christmas, too, the hours I'm working) and Mum says she'll put a bit towards a new one if I do go for a new comp... and god, I love having staff discount at an electrical/electronics store!
I don't know.
