Nov. 3rd, 2008 08:20 pmNew shopping centre's just opened in my town (actually, opened last week but I was away for the big occasion). This thing's been under construction for frickin' years, amidst much arguing and ohgodroadworks. All seems kind of nice from the 10 minute look I managed to get (it takes 20 minutes to walk there from uni and I only had an hour free); open-air, two levels, bowling alley, weird bridge to get to it from town centre which is trying to be our equivalent of that Millennium Bridge in London. The wobbly one.
And our first local Starbucks (which isn't actually open yet).
It's spreading.
We have caught coffee.
We're doomed.
-
I was thinking as I walked back. Christmas signs starting to show up, though not too bad yet.
Santa.
Has to get around the world in one night; has to be in a million malls and a million towns at once for the little kiddies.
But there can only be one Santa, surely... come on, here!
The conclusion -
'Santa' is a hive mind. Able to divide his consciousness and presence across the whole world, into each of those bodies. The elves are larval forms which develop into the more familiar red-suit-and-beard form when needed.
Given that... I'm not even sure I want to think of what is really up at the North Pole.
