Nov. 1st, 2008 08:09 pmI'm home. And damn, am I tired.
So, first day; train ride. Four hours, which is crazy, but it was the cheap direct train so eh, that was fine. Delayed, mind, trees on line, but got into London for about 12. Wandered around for a bit, found our way down to Covent Garden to book show tickets and find eats, called in at Forbidden Planet, and got over to the hotel. Said hotel was a rabbit warren of a place; I think it was three houses connected together, so couldn't get to one third floor room from another. Which was a pain because my room and Mum's were both third floor but in different wings/houses. Ow.
Show we were booking tickets for? Lion King. Went back into the city later for it. Daaaamn, it was pretty spectacular. Mum and aunt who aren't my level of Disney freak both thought the same thing. Bit of a trip down memory lane, but interesting to see the new stuff that'd been added specially for the show, and very cool to see the way they'd done the costumes and effects. All around? Yay.
Second day - headed for the Tower of London. Started off with a guided tour off one of the Yeoman Warders, then started checking out the different towers and features there. Didn't get around the whole lot, left early afternoon to try and get to the London Eye. Queues were horrendous so thought 'stuff this' and just went to find food. Evening was the Halloween Ghost Tour - being shown around the sites of major ghost sightings around the place. The guide went like a rocket! Finished in a pub (the first pub I've been ID'd in for a long time, which is odd as I've been mistaken for under 18 more times than I can count), then headed back to the hotel around 11pm.
This morning - *meant* to go for another tour, but we were all exhausted after last night and we had to carry all our bags and everything with us, so went over to the British Museum for a few hours instead (basically because there was somewhere to dump said bags). Got snap happy. Got train back at half three, and got home a little while ago.
All in all, good times. But I'm gonna sleep tonight...
