If you use Kazaa, IMesh, etc, etc, anything like that - read this. Please.
This message was passed onto me yesterday by my best friend IRL. It's especially relevant if you live in the UK, but I suspect that other countries are doing similar things.
File sharing networks aren't safe any longer. From what I've been told, tracking programs/files are being slipped onto the networks and onto peoples' computers.
The best case scenario if you get one of these is that your computer'll have major problems. My friend's comp wound up with its hard drive formatted.
The worst? If they track you down this way - thousands of pounds' fines. Maybe even jail.
Talk about overkill... but it's what I've heard.
If you have any of these programs, it's probably best to deinstall it as a precaution. I know I probably sound like one of those people who write hoax virus emails, but I'm totally sincere.
Thanks for reading.
(On lighter news: OMGsnowinNovember! I don't think I've ever seen this happen where I live before...)
Edit: Just read an article at the Electronic Freedom Foundation website that sounds ominously like what I heard... look in the MiniLinks section for the Miami Herald article at the top of the page. (Looks like you can only get one read of it before the site wants you to register, though.)
...This is not good.
