Dec. 21st, 2011 05:47 pmSo time for two cents on the LJ shenanigans. I know I should likely be supposed to be screaming dee-dubya here we come, but overall, if it wasn't for the RP deal, I'd just be rather ... meh at this all. Suppose it's partly because I'm used to LJ being plonkers, and partly because I don't seem to see DW as this panacea of blogging that it's made out to be. I respect that they're trying to do things right at the moment, but when LJ was younger, everything was good here too... it's still just run by human beings, who're flawed. I can't believe it'll always be what they say.
There's also something about the atmosphere... maybe it's just tunnel vision. But I've never really felt welcomed to the place even with the advertising it. It always felt like somewhere you have to be a wonderful caring artistic creative person to fit in. And smeg knows I rarely feel like that. On that, I tend to get really annoyed by the DW fans who dive onto the news comments etc at the first sign of trouble trying to spread the gospel... even if they've not been as bad lately. It hacked me off when the place first opened, at least.
But I think that hype aversion's a big thing with me in general. I see stuff shoved in my face, a lot of the time, I'm going to veer away from it unless the shoving's done in a good manner. If there's something that catches my eye (or ear, so many fandoms I've been drawn to because the music rocked), then I'll give a thing a chance. But sometimes I see big name things and just kind of go 'okay, so why should I be interested'?
I know it's all pretty irrational on my part. But it's kind of a thing I do.

ETA: Okay. After seeing more LJ screweruppery and dickery, I'm seriously considering going back on the above. >_> Not rushing off, but seriously pondering.
And I'm kinda sick of this username anyway.
