Good news, we found the DS. It was down the back of the radiator. Perfectly stuck. We had to turn a walking stick on it to dislodge it.

Bad news, we found Marisse's copy of Saving Private Ryan at the same time. >_> The special edition copy I borrowed for research and thought I'd handed back to her.
