Jun. 29th, 2006 09:00 pmSo my first time teaching the kids today in karate class. Had to take the three yellow belts through their kata; two ten-year-olds, one eight. The eight's a sweetie. Freckles. And he actually knew his stuff... though he ended up going flop on the floor after he'd done it. I kinda went 'I know it's tough, kiddo, but give me one really nice show and you can have a drink and a break, okay?' - I don't know how hard to go. We ain't talking FoR here. But I still want to name a Spartan character after him.
One of the tens, though - had never done it before, so I was trying to go through from scratch with him. Sheesh, I try to help and he just goes zooming off taking shortcuts... blah. Which part of 'do the moves after me, okay?' is hard?
